Meet James Arena-DeRosa

Welcome! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to earn your vote for State Representative. In all my work in public service, the most valuable and enduring lesson I've learned is that people should have a voice in the decisions and policies that affect their lives. That's why my highest priority as a candidate and State Representative will be to listen to the people and leaders of Holliston, Hopkinton, Millis, and Sherborn.

My commitment to listening, learning, and advocating for others has been a constant throughout my career, whether I was organizing with farmworkers, advocating for families and communities with Oxfam America, directing the Peace Corps for New England, or leading a $12 billion agency as the USDA Northeast Administrator for Food and Nutrition in the Obama Administration. My longtime work supporting Democratic ideals, campaigns and grassroots organizations in Massachusetts and across our nation further strengthened my conviction that democracy only works when the voice of the people is heard.

People's voices in our neighborhoods and towns matter just as much as they do in the Massachusetts State House and Washington, DC. That's why I have always been an active volunteer in my community, serving on multiple town committees, including the Holliston Finance Committee, chairing my local Democratic Town Committee, coaching youth baseball, volunteering to support local performing arts, and helping facilitate Celebrate Holliston Day.

I look forward to meeting you in the weeks and months ahead and sharing my vision for how our state government can be responsive to communities' needs as we emerge from the pandemic. I can't wait to share my stories about raising a family in Holliston, why I love Mudville, and my lifelong devotion to the Red Sox. In the meantime, please explore this site to learn more about me and what I hope to accomplish as your State Representative.

And finally, please participate in the primary on September 6th. Every vote counts.

I look forward to meeting you in the weeks and months ahead.
